Intensive English

QSI Chisinau is an English-medium school meaning English is the language of instruction.

Due to the academic requirements of our Secondary program, students in secondary grades may not be admitted if they do not have sufficient English language skills to complete the academic program in a reasonable amount of time.

QSI's Intensive English Program

The QSI Intensive English (IE) curriculum is designed for students who enter QSI schools without knowing enough English to be successful in their mainstream classrooms. IE courses are designed to help students catch up enough to be able to attend mainstream classroom English courses.

When students join a school they are assessed to ensure their English level is adequate to succeed in their grade-level classes. If it isn't, they are placed in IE courses instead of literacy courses. This learning is reinforced during the Lanugages Other than English (LOE) periods when students go to IE support class for additional English practice rather than taking another world language course such as Spanish, French, etc.

Once students are deemed via assessment to be successful in the mainstream literacy English classroom, they are exited from IE. Fine tuning of their English continues in the mainstream classroom. Often they continue in IE support during LOE periods as well for additional fine turning of their English abilities.
